In mid-July we were invited for an exhausting BlogTrip in Vienne, the land of Futuroscope. After a first busy night and day at the Plaza du Futuroscope and then at the park, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, until late afternoon, we went to the Floating Village of Pressacfor a night in a very unexpected place.
A reminder of our program for Saturday, July 15, 2017, in the evening:
- Departure around 6:00 p.m.Futuroscopetowards the floating village of Pressac
- Dinner and overnight stay in a floating cabin on the edge of a lake
Program for Sunday, July 16, 2017, in the morning (until around 10:00 a.m.):
- Waking up to the rays of the sun and the sound of quacking ducks
- Breakfast in the floating cabin of the Floating Village of Pressac
- Visit by motorboat the lake, its foliage, and finally on foot the natural and life-filled caches that the place contains.
For the rest of the visit, I let you read my other articles from our trip to Vienna.
The floating village of Pressac
It is a remote place in nature that welcomes arrivals for a night, a weekend or several days of absolute relaxation. As a couple or family, it is not uncommon to meet groups stopping at these places for festive events (bachelorette parties, weddings, honeymoons, parties, etc.).
Our late arrival (due to our delay from Futuroscope, well yes it’s still 1 hour away) was still received by the evening manager, phew for us 1 hour more and we would have had to call him at home.
After the basic explanations, this charming young man drove us to our place of rest for the night in a small white cart, to the great delight of the children, so that we did not have to walk with our suitcases.
Just the road was a magnificent spectacle. To see here and there the cabins on the edge or the water is a new experience.
The places are calm and fantastic for nature lovers, I’ll let you discover them in photos. The following will show you that spending a few days at the Floating Village of Pressace is worth its weight in calm and serenity.
The floating cabins
Made entirely of wood, floating on the lake (but still held by anchors), our little cabin attached to the bank immediately gave a real impression of relaxation, of returning to nature with a touch of Robinson Crusoe. Nothing but natural, or almost.
Dry toilets (to be evacuated by the occupants, hum hum, guess who took care of that?), no drinking water or electricity, except for a small solar battery to recharge smartphones or provide lighting with 3 small LED lamps at night.
In short, it’s a total change of scenery and life without all the usual high-tech. Okay, we still had our screens, but not use much (except for photos) overall. That’s always something.
The packed lunch was already waiting for us in two baskets placed on the ground, as well as the essentials for life on site (backpack filled with emergency products: water, toilet paper, first aid kit, etc.).
Once alone and discovered our living space for a few hours, it was with an appetite that we were able to enjoy the dinner prepared by our hosts kept warm in boxes provided for this purpose. And guess who quickly came? A group of green-necked ducks and their wives of course. One of the two baguettes practically disappeared in their throats, and the children, deprived themselves of bread to feed the animals! lol
Picnic baskets
Although there is a restaurant and several “grill/pierrades” huts to enjoy a good, friendly meal with friends or family, it is possible to reserve and receive a packed lunch for lunch, dinner or breakfast.
These are placed at specific times out of sight in each cabin using this service. Starter, main course, dessert, and drink, plus bread, everything is included so that no one is forgotten. Then it’s up to us to make our choice, to exchange according to tastes, after all we are family, right? And sharing is very important. The products are fresh and of quality, and for the most part local.
You can find everything you need and more! And a very important little note, there is a difference between adult and children’s dishes. Something to satisfy everyone.
For breakfast, same principle except that here, pastries are the order of the day. The bread is fresh, the jam excellent and everything is in abundance, more than necessary, the ducks having had their share again. ;-D
He who sleeps dines…
That’s what the saying goes, but with a full belly, no need to think about eating again. Once the beds were spread out, sleep overtook us after a little ruckus with the children and dad who had to scold a little. Normal, they are children, but being tired, we couldn’t ask for too much either.
It’s quite strange to sleep in a cabin made entirely of wood, even more so almost on top of each other. Between the beds (including a foldaway on the floor), the bags, and suitcases, not much room to move around
After a well-deserved night’s sleep, it was nature (including the sun) that pushed us to open our eyes. Of course, between the marmot grumbling that it was too early and the last 2 chirping like baby birds, waking up wasn’t idyllic for everyone! lol
Visit to the Pressac Park and more
After breakfast and a walk around the lake to discover all the surrounding nature. We were lucky to have the owner for a little ride in a motorboat. Already the children wanted me to row here and there to appear slowly, I preferred this option, especially due to lack of time. At 10:15 we had to continue our BlogTrip elsewhere.
A village in the lands
The Floating Village has other projects than cabins on and at the water’s edge. One of them is a cabin village inland. Recently opened, it can accommodate families with a more advanced service. Here there is water, toilets, and electricity. Because from their experience, not everyone likes to live so drastically, some preferring their comfort, so they have adapted.
