Brief history of the Loubet lodge
As already mentioned, the place is not yet operational. Nevertheless, it deserves all the attention. It is a lodging that was already a historic hotel of the valley in the 30s. It belonged to the Loubet family, hence its name. This family from Valgaudemar is part of the groups of immigrants who left the country for the United States and who, a few years later, felt homesick and returned to their native valley.
The Loubet family bought the farm and over the years, from generation to generation, expanded it. They eventually built a hotel with 26 rooms in total.
The accommodation was very active between the months of June and September. The hosts offered, in addition to the rooms, catering. It was mainly the latter that made the reputation of this place because it attracted customers. They mainly cooked local products including vegetables from their garden.
When the 3rd generation of the Loubet family, Jean-Jacques, and Marie-Barban, retired about 15 years ago, the hotel no longer had a manager or staff. It then stopped operating until a group of friends discovered it and decided to take over everything to get the Loubet gîte up and running again.
